Dr. Greer is pleased to offer the advanced LASIK refractive surgery at the Center for Better Vision. This in-office procedure is performed under topical anesthesia. Dr. Greer uses a small microkeratome to make a hinged flap in the clear cornea of the eye. Underneath this flap the blue excimer laser is used to precisely sculpt the cornea and give it a new shape. This new shape refocuses the light entering your eye so that you may see more clearly without the aid of glasses or contact lenses. The original flap is then laid back into place without the need for stitches. The unique biomechanical properties of the cornea allow the flap to stay in place on its own while it heals. Because the original flap is put back into place there is little to no discomfort or pain and the healing time is very rapid. Many patients see very well the following day.
